Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 2026 · RealLineal.com
At RealLineal, we believe simple web tools should respect your privacy. RealLineal runs directly in your browser, requires no account, and never collects or tracks what you measure.
100% On-Device
Everything happens inside your browser. No photos, camera access, or dimensions ever leave your screen.
No Sign-Up
You don't need an account, email address, password, or subscription to use the ruler.
Zero Ad Trackers
We do not use invasive third-party ad networks, tracking pixels, or cross-site cookies.
1. Everything Runs in Your Browser
Every measurement tick, card calibration slider movement, guide line adjustment, and unit calculation is processed locally on your computer, tablet, or phone. We do not transmit what you are measuring, your screen snapshots, or your object dimensions to any external server.
2. Settings Stored on Your Device
To make sure you do not have to recalibrate your screen every time you open RealLineal, we use your browser's private storage (localStorage) to remember:
- Your screen calibration: Your calibrated pixel scale so the ruler stays accurate.
- Your preferred unit: Whether you prefer measuring in centimeters (cm/mm) or inches.
- Theme: Dark mode or light mode preference.
- Ruler edges: Which screen rulers (top, bottom, left, right) you have turned on.
These settings live solely on your own device. They are never sent to our servers, and you can clear them anytime by clearing your browser cache.
3. Cookies & Network Requests
RealLineal does not use invasive advertising cookies or cross-site tracking tools. Like almost all websites, our hosting network (such as Cloudflare) may log basic network connection details (like IP address and browser type) strictly for security, DDoS protection, and fast page delivery. These server logs are automatically anonymized and purged regularly.
4. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Because RealLineal collects no personal accounts, user profiles, or measurement histories, we do not hold, sell, or monetize any personal data. You are always in full control of your device data.
5. Questions About Privacy?
If you have any questions about how RealLineal protects your privacy, feel free to reach out directly at hello@reallineal.com or via our Contact page.
